Orthodontics is not just about straightening teeth. The benefits include teeth that are easier to maintain, a better bite to chew properly, health of the jaw joint can be improved with better balance. Dentofacial orthopedics concerns the developing jaw.
The combination of experience, lastest technology and an artistic eye applied in an intelligent and caring manor makes Kampas Orthodontics the obvious choice for your orthodontic care.
Orthodontist now realize that interceptive treatment can more easily fix problems early; before they have a chance to worsen. Traditional orthodontic care often meant removing teeth to make room for all the teeth. Jaw growth disharmonies, functional abnormalities, missing teeth, or impacted teeth can all indicate the need for early treatment. See- What is Phase I treatment for more info
The explosion in technology makes the old fashioned way of doing orthodontics obsolete. Digital orthodontics allows us to plan the perfect smile before your treatment begins. Suresmile uses orthodontic wires activated by the heat of the mouth- these wires can only be used by a Suresmile certified practice. Our office is the only practice in our area to use this advanced technology
Phase I treatment is directed toward treatment in the mixed dentition. The goals of Phase I are clearly defined for each patient- correction of crossbite, create eruption space for permenant teeth, elimination of a functional shift or jaw growth modification are common. Identifying missing or ectopic(misplaced) teeth is valuable for long term treatment planning. We place a large number of our new patients in Observation status because everyone doesn’t need Phase I.
Shape memory wires are made from alloys that hold the shape in which they were formed. They have been widely used in orthodontics since the mid-80’s. These wire are “springy” which means they are perfect to produce the light constant force which moves teeth. A newer version of the these wires is soft at room temperature and stiffens with the heat of the mouth. Most shape memory wires only come in a few shapes, but the robot used to bend the Suresmile wires can bend a custom shape to move your teeth into the ideal position with more accuracy and more gentle pressure.
We one of only 400 offices in the world qualified to deliver digital orthodontics with Suresmile. That means we’ve invested in the training and technology to bring the best service to our patients. In addition, Dr. Kampas’ experience and training combined with a talented, caring staff make your office visits efficient and pleasant.
